The Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) conducts the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) for recruitment to various civil service positions in the state of Assam. The CCE consists of three stages - Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and Interview.
The Main Examination of APSC CCE consists of 6 papers, which are as follows:
- Paper-I: General English - 300 Marks
- Paper-II: General Studies-I - 250 Marks
- Paper-III: General Studies-II - 250 Marks
- Paper-IV: Optional Subject Paper-I - 250 Marks
- Paper-V: Optional Subject Paper-II - 250 Marks
- Paper-VI: Optional Subject Paper-III - 250 Marks
The Optional Subject Papers can be chosen by the candidate from a list of subjects provided by APSC. The list includes subjects such as Agriculture, Anthropology, Chemistry, Economics, History, Geography, Political Science, and many others.
The Main Examination is conducted in a descriptive mode and candidates are required to write essays, answers, and analysis on various topics related to the subjects. The marks obtained in the Main Examination and the Interview are considered for the final selection of candidates.
